Senior Associate / Lawyer - Legal Services – Intangibles, Data & Technology (IDT)

As a member of our busy and expanding IDT team, you will join one of the largest highly specialized Intangibles, Data & Technology teams, dealing with a diversified client portfolio, across industries and borders. We aim to deliver practical, business-oriented solutions that help transform the way our clients operate, enabling innovation and growth through the use of new technologies, while maintaining legal and regulatory compliance. Our IDT practice covers a wide variety of subject matters including data protection, cybersecurity, cyber-resilience, new technologies (including AI), intellectual property, legal function transformation and contract management automation, telecommunications and media, as well as other types of regulatory compliance e.g. Whistleblowing schemes. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow professionally in a challenging and dynamic environment while playing a key role in delivering impactful legal solutions.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Associate, you will focus on the delivery of client engagements by understanding client expectations, maintaining accountability for performance and fostering effective communication and relationship-building skills. You will also contribute to the priorities of the team as well as the business, while committing to personal learning and development, seizing opportunities to make a meaningful impact through delivering exceptional legal services to our clients.

During your tenure as a Senior Associate, you will demonstrate and develop the ability to:

  • Lead the provision of innovative legal & practical solutions to complex legal issues while delivering a high-quality output, making an impact for our clients and creating trusted relationships;
  • Provide legal advice relating to:
    • assuming the role of external Data Protection Officer, independently carrying out standard data protection tasks, such as handling data subject requests, managing personal data breaches, conducting data protection impact assessments, delivering advice on legal and regulatory requirements on data protection matters and  privacy trainings to employees;
    • leading privacy management operational activities, such as conducting data mapping exercises, drafting and/or reviewing privacy notices, privacy policies and procedures;
    • leading the negotiations of commercial agreements on all data protection, cybersecurity and cyber-resilience matters;
    • cooperate with cross-functional teams to conduct M&A due diligence on data protection, cybersecurity, intellectual property and other legal and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Deepen your expertise in current and upcoming legislation on data protection, cybersecurity, intellectual property and artificial intelligence;
  • Leverage advanced tools and technologies, collaborating with non-legal functions to enhance the reach and effectiveness of your legal advice;
  • Take on leadership responsibilities by managing aspects of client engagements and supporting team development initiatives;
  • Actively support the team’s business development, including client acquisition, retention and expansion, creation of new offerings for IDT-related products and services;
  • Supervise a team of more junior team members, effectively assigning tasks and priorities, reviewing work, being responsible for meeting deadlines and resolving daily conflicts with team and clients.

Our Requirements

Our ideal candidate is a bright and ambitious experienced lawyer that focuses on delivering work of high quality, commits to a high level of client service, and has the ability to build strong client relationships. We expect that you have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to work effectively within a team of peers and of more senior team members, have a meticulous attention to detail and deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions.

In particular, to qualify for the role you must have:

  • Qualified as an Attorney-at-Law in Greece (Athens Bar Association or other Greek Bar Association membership);
  • A Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Data Protection, Cybersecurity or New Technologies from a prominent, well-acclaimed University in Greece or abroad;
  • Four (4) to seven (7) years of post-qualification relevant work experience at a law firm, law office or in-house legal department;
  • Prior work experience in data protection, cybersecurity, intellectual property;

·        Demonstrated interest and sound understanding of new or emerging technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence, data centers, PCs, connected devices, and software);

·        Excellent written and spoken professional English, with excellent drafting and presentation skills;

  • A professional, business-aware and client-facing approach to legal services delivery;
  • Strong leadership and project management skills;
  • Multi-tasker and able to work efficiently and timely under pressure and strict deadlines;
  • Capacity to be detail – oriented and ability to supervise as well as deliver high quality work;
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal skills – ability to work effectively both independently and within a team;
  • Highly motivated and dynamic personality with a good business development mindset and a demonstrated track record of going above-and-beyond expectations;
  • Computer Literacy.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Additional languages (French, German, Italian or other) will be considered an asset;
  • Diploma/Certifications/Seminars in data protection, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence;
  • Diploma/Certifications/Seminars in privacy management platforms.
